Researcher Manager - Adding Users to Projects

Overview

In the Project Leader application, a project leader has the ability to search the entire AKN user list to add researchers to their project. Going forward, a project leader will only be able to view researchers affiliated with at least one of their projects. This page provides instructions for project leaders who need to add new or new-to-them researchers to their project.

Adding a new researcher that has an AKN account to your project

Is the researcher in one of your projects?

If the researcher is in one of your other projects, you will be able to add them via the Manage Individual Researcher tab in Researcher Manager via the following steps:

  1. Login to Researcher Manager.

  2. Select Manage Individual Researcher.

  3. Search for the researcher you wish to add to another project. You can search by email or name.

  4. Click on the name in the result table.

  5. Click “Add to Project” and choose your project from the dropdown.

  6. Make selections for status, Is Project Leader, and Receives Registration Requests.

  7. Click “Add to Project.”

Is the researcher NOT in one of your projects?

If the researcher is NOT affiliated with any of your projects, you will not be able to see them in the Manage Individual Researcher tab. Have them to go to the Project Request Form so they can request access to your project; you will then receive an email to approve their request and assign their role within the project. They will need your project code to fill out the form.

Adding a new researcher that does not have an AKN account to your project

Will the researcher need to login into the AKN?

If the researcher will need to login to the AKN to enter or manage data, give them this link along with your project code to request an account. After they confirm their email address, you will receive an email to approve their request and assign their role within the project. AKN New User Registration

If the researcher will not need to login to the AKN, you will be able to add them via the Add Unregistered User tab in Researcher Manager via the following steps:

  1. Login to Researcher Manager.

  2. Select Add Unregistered Researcher.

  3. Fill out at least the minimum required fields (First Name, Last Name, Status).

  4. Check the box acknowledging that this is creating a non-login user. This person will not be able to be converted to a login account at a later date.

  5. Click “Add Researcher.”
