How to login to the Point Blue Science Cloud using your FWS Microsoft account
In order to meet federal security standards provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), FWS users will be required to login to our systems using Microsoft Signle Sign-on starting February 22, 2023 at noon Pacific Time.
Microsoft Single Sign-on allows FWS users to sign-on to any Point Blue Science Cloud app, such as our data entry app Biologists, using their Microsoft Single Sign-on (ADFS) DOI account identity. This means you’ll use the same email address and password (or PIV card) used to login to your laptop.
NOTE: For the purposes of this article, an “FWS user” is anyone who uses our system with an email address ending in “fws.gov”.
Step-by-step instructions
Follow these instruction to use your FWS credentials to login to a Point Blue Science Cloud App. While the Biologists data entry app will be used as an example in these instructions, you can use the same steps to login to any of our apps.
These steps only apply to users who are logged out. If you are currently logged into an app, you can use the logout link in any app to logout. The link in step 1 has such a link at the bottom of every page.
Enter your fws.gov email address
Click the “Sign in with Microsoft Single Sign-on” button that appears
If the DOI login system does not consider you as being “signed in”, you’ll be redirected to sign in as in the image below:
Once you’re logged in, you’ll be directed back to the original application URL:
You should now be logged into the Point Blue Science Cloud.
